CDS-PTF 2010/2011 Sponsorship Drive
The Central Day School Parent-Teacher Fellowship encourages all parents and teachers to participate in the vital partnership between home and school and accomplish the mission of our school to honor and glorify God and support the ministry of Central Church by providing an excellent education with a Christian foundation in a safe, encouraging environment. The PTF will do its part to accomplish this goal by identifying the schools needs and then asking our parents to share your prayers, time, talents, and gifts for the benefit of our students, teachers, parents, and school. Our purpose in fundraising is to provide educational items, recess and P.E. equipment, activities and events for students, teachers and staff that cannot be covered by tuition. Having said this, we also listen to our parents and try to accommodate their wishes when it comes to what type of fundraising the majority is interested in participating. This year we are offering sponsorship options. Each price level, as listed on the attached form, comes with an incentive for sponsoring. Please spend time with your family to pray over your support for our school. No one is obligated to do this. However, if we reach our goal, it could eliminate the need for other fundraisers! Since we have no way of knowing the amount of participation in this sponsorship drive, we will keep the events already scheduled for this year, such as the Barnes and Noble Book Fair and Thunder Run. As always, you choose which fundraiser works best for you and your family. Our goal for this sponsorship drive is $10,000, which is an average of what we have earned with catalog fundraisers in the past. If each student, at a minimum, sponsored at the Blue and Gold level ($25) we would accomplish 3/4 of that goal. Sponsoring at a higher level would allow us to provide more educational tools and events that are not provided for in the yearly budget. Grandparents, relatives, and friends may also become a CDS-PTF sponsor and enjoy the CDS incentive items.

Lunch Program
We are again offering the lunch program for the 2010/2011 school year. However, we have expanded to include all five days. We are delighted to have the same great vendors - Chick-Fil-A, Sonic, Back Yard Burgers, Subway, and CiCi's - join us again. In an effort to offer healthier options for lunch, this year we will not be serving cookies with the meals and will replace them by offering Jello, mixed fruit (peaches, pears, pineapples), diced peaches, mandarin oranges, or sliced apples with the meals. We have also added a 10oz bottle of water. All meals will be $3.50.
The meals are as follows:
Mondays - Sonic Cheeseburger (larger adult portion), Chips, Apples with Carmel
Tuesdays - 2 Slices of CiCi's Pizza, Banana, and Jello (served as a meal this year)
Wednesday - Subway Sandwich, Chips, and Fruit Selection
Thursday - Chick-Fil-A 8-piece nuggets, Chips, and Fruit Selection
Friday - Back Yard Burger Hot Dogs, Chips, and Fruit Selection
Each meal will be served with a 10oz bottle of water.
CDS reserves the right to adjust fruit options based upon vendor availability.
An online lunch order form will be available Thursday on the website. All orders must be placed online and payments made thru e-Giving. If you need assistance, please call Stacey Fleming at 255-8212.

Duke Talent Indentification Program
We would like to share an opportunity available to our new seventh graders called the, "Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP)." A select number of students from public and private schools within our region have been invited by Duke University to take either the ACT or SAT college entrance exam (according to your preference), which is the same test secondary students take during their junior and senior years of high school. The intent is to identify and recognize students at the middle school level who demonstrate academic excellence and provide opportunities for future scholastic advancement. In order to qualify, a student must score at least a 95 percentile in a core subject area on a standardized test - such as, the Stanford Achievement Test that was administered last spring or, for new students, part of the admission testing. This year, eighteen out of thirty-one students qualified to participate in Duke Tip. That's over sixty percent of the class. Congratulations to this year's participants:
Alex Jaehn, Bakari Kountz, Caitlin Green, Hanna Lawhorn, Joseph Igoni, Joshua Moss, Katlyn Morris, Kayla Johnson, Keely Cox, Kortney Cardin, Logan Thornburg, Micah Barrett, Michael Swift,
Nicholas Williams, Ryan Patterson, Sarah Barkowski, Savannah Haentzler, and Sherrie Pak
